Solve FSHD
Donation protected
Hi everyone, to make a long story short, one of my closest friends was recently diagnosed with FSHD. I have never heard of this disease before and I’m sure many other people haven’t either. FSHD is a condition that causes muscle dystrophy and to my knowledge there is no cure for this. I’m here to try to change that. Most of my life, I have taken my physical capabilities for granted. I’ve been fortunate enough to work physically almost everyday in my career and always compete athletically throughout my life. This past year, after taking 10 years off, I began running again to live a healthier lifestyle. To help motivate me, I signed up for some marathons this year, one of them being the Brooklyn Half Marathon in May. Little did I know I would be given a little extra motivation on this journey back of mine when I heard of this news. This unfortunate condition eats away at your physical capabilities and can happen to anyone and learning this made me extremely humbled. I had signed up for the Brooklyn marathon months before I knew anything about this disease, but I figured this race could be a great opportunity for many things. I hope I can at least help people become more aware of this unfortunate disease and to do anything I can to help solve the condition going forward by finding a cure. We will be donating half of the money to my friend who has unimaginable medical bills ahead of them and half of the money to a charity who is trying to solve FSHD. Thank you for taking the time to read this. The more this is shared the more awareness I can bring to this. Contact me personally if you want to learn more!
