What’s the monetary goal? What specifically are we raising money for?
SolTaf Children’s Home began with a vision of founder Mahlet Solomon to work with Ethiopian children in poverty. Since 2014, the organization has grown to include a children’s home, a hospital project, and a women’s empowerment program in Ethiopia. Committed to improving the lives of marginalized people everywhere, We have also funded bimonthly initiatives with organizations here in Atlanta to help the homeless and refugee populations. Please help us achieve our goal of raising $4000 to continue to serve those whom God places in our path!

Children's Home
In 2014, the organization founded a children’s home in Ethiopia. The 3-bedroom, 2-bath home has housed eight children so far, providing shelter and three nutritious meals a day, in addition to have to have children’s fees for a private Christian school. A live-in nanny, a mother to the children, gives them after school tutoring, teaches them core Christian values, and documents their weekly progress to our board. This program has taken children from dire situations and put them into a home where they thrive.

Hospital Project
In 2016 , our founder learned from a doctor in Gojam, Ethiopia that many inhabitants of rural areas die from curable illnesses because they have no transportation to a doctor. Our program provides finances to transport individuals of all ages to a doctor or hospital, enabling them to get the life-saving attention they need. We have currently served several people through this program.
Empowering Women Through Microfinancing
Often, a small loan can make the difference between starvation and prosperity. Recently, we initiated a woman’s empowerment program helping Ethiopian women start small businesses through microfinancing. We are giving a single mother $30 a month for six months so that she can start a tea business in the streets of Addis Ababa. We plan to evaluate her progress and recruit other women like her for the program.
American Homeless and Refugee Projects
In addition to our work in Ethiopia, we believe in helping those in our American communities. We have participated in many volunteer events in Atlanta GA to assist the homeless and refugees, including providing meals to the Gwinnett Children’s Home, collecting household items for the International Rescue Committee, preparing foods for Foodbank Atlanta, providing toothbrushes and meals to Hands Across Atlanta, and assisting a disabled Ethiopian immigrant.
As we continue to grow and expand our service, we are delighted to have the support and encouragement of our community to change individuals’ lives.
In July 2015 SolTaf received its article of incorporation and 501(c)(3) from the Internal Revenue Service. For more information about SolTaf, please go to www.soltafchildrenshome.org. Thank you for your support!
