December 2021 Update: In January I'm returning to Vieques to work together with households installing solar electric systems that will provide electricity during blackouts and reduce monthly electric bills. I'm now raising money to fund the purchase of equipment (batteries, inverters, charge controllers, and mounting racks) for families that can't afford the whole cost, and to buy some bulk electrical supplies. Thank you; together we can extend the benefits of solar electricity to everyone under the sun.
Thank you for lending a hand!
January 18, 2020 Update: The solar panels are shipped! Special thanks to Valerie and Pete for working together to shepherd the panels on to the truck and keep all the paperwork straight! The shipping was more economical than our original estimate ($3,214 instead of $5,000), so we are rapidly nearing our funding target. Thank you to IMA (http://imarad.io/) for letting me ship their panels without (yet!) all the money. A special thanks to E2 SOLAR of Cape Cod (https://www.e2solarcapecod.com/) for their huge support. Additionally I have received approximately $5,800 through IMA and from direct donations, so in order to complete paying for the panels I only need to raise $4,800 more. That is doable! I will be in Puerto Rico by the end of the month, so please stay tuned for updates. And to everyone who has donated money in whatever amount, to everyone who has shared time, work, advice, criticism, and encouragement, thank you.
