Raising money for my destroyed house in Ukraine
Donation protected
My name is Antonina Lata and I am from Ukraine. Together with my 9 year old daughter I lived in Irpin, taking care of her and of my dad and godmother. You must have heard of what happened to our beloved home — the battle of Irpin was horrendous. We were lucky to survive it but our house is completely ruined. Me and my daughter were evacuated — it's a whole other story on how that happened. I thought it's like some terrible movie I'm watching but it wasn't, it was real and it was my life.
In the beginning of March, in the dark, in the cold, in a train with lights switched off, completely silent we were lucky to get out. A lot of people were not that fortunate and I think about them every day. We got to Budapest and stayed there for a while waiting for a visa to the UK. Now we live not far from Cambridge and still can't wrap our minds around what happened to us and to our country.
I am an artist and in Budapest I was fortunate to paint the walls for a Ukrainian school and I even sold some of my works. Now in the UK I am trying my best to learn the language (this text is translated) and I hope I will be able to work. I am grateful my daughter is safe. Now my main goal is to rebuild what is ruined. I am raising money so I can rebuild the roof of my house and rebuild what has been hit. I am helping my godmother and father. I dream they have a roof over their heads, we return home and all this is over.
Thank you so much for your help!
