Solo Jersey-France swim and Channel Relay Swim

In his final days my dad said he wanted his ashes scattered at sea, I have no idea why as he was never an avid sailor but he must have felt a connection to the water so in his memory I am setting myself a massive challenge to feel that connection too.

Between 21-25th July (weather dependant for date) I will swim solo from Jersey to France (14 miles) in cold, choppy, jellyfish infested waters then in August i will be part of a Channel Relay Team of 6, swimming an hour at a time with at least 2 rotations.

This will be a mammoth challenge, between being a Mummy to 3 very little boys, working full time and life, I will have to dig deep and get my very unfit backside into a pool over winter and open water (15 degree water) from springtime (including swimming the length of Lake Windermere as a qualifier) night sea swims and training camps.

I will be doing this for 2 charities. The Relay will be for Aspire which is a spinal cord injury charity and a very good cause, they require a minimum of £1750 to be donated to allow you to be part of the team. Life can change so suddenly and being able to give something back to people who have sadly been affected by this, trying to help them find some independence again would be magical. I will also be giving to Marie Curie Cancer Care who were there for us a family at the hardest time of our lives. The final hours were hard, my dad was not comfortable until the Marie Curie nurses came and gave him some treatments for pain, for that i will be forever grateful as no-one should be suffering or in pain at that point in their life and they made him look more comfortable and offered support when we needed it most. Without this great cause many families would have to watch loved ones potentially suffer to the end and not know where to turn as they offer great support to families and patients affected with this very awful disease.

I would really appreciate any donation at all, I know how tough times are. I hope you can follow me on this journey and on the day can watch the progress through the boat tracker (Lionheart) as i make my way through the water.

Thank you, ❤️ Kirsty x
