On March 26th, our brother Derrick Baptist was walked out of the building and terminated. The circumstances of his termination were contentious at best, and at worst, well I would have some choice words.
Derrick has always been an excellent officer, good personal friend and all around good dude.
As a show of solidarity, I am reaching out to all our brothers and sisters (and anything in between) at MHCC for support to our brother while he goes through the grievance process. Derrick is left without income as a result of this, and I call upon staff from MHCC to once again show support and generosity for both him and his family in these tough times.
I ask that anyone who is able, show some support, no matter how large or small to our brother, in the way that we usually do in these cases. I also ask that you pass this on to anyone else within the institution, and if you can't support, that's OK.
Together we are strong and can weather hardships like this, but only if we come together as a community.
Please, help a man who is not just a friend and colleague, but one of us, and someone who would do the same for any of you.
In Solidarity
