Mi nombre es Ángel Melendez Rincon, y hoy me veo en la necesidad de apelar a todos mis amigos, conocidos y familiares, para poder sobrevivir y enfrentar el proceso que atraviesa mi hijo, Ángel Rafael, quien fue detenido por ICE de manera errónea.

Como bien es sabido tengo una discapacidad que me impide trabajar, más aun fui intervenido en el hombre izquierdo por el uso de muletas por espacio mayor de 40 años, por lo cual dependo completamente de mi hijo como mi proveedor, quien ha sido mi apoyo económico y físico. Él ha sido mis manos, mis pies y mi sustento.

Hace poco, ICE lo detuvo, a pesar de que su caso de asilo sigue pendiente y tiene su Estatus de Protección Temporal (TPS) aprobado. Desde ese día mi vida cambió por completo. Me quedé, sin su cuidado y sin los recursos para cubrir mis gastos básicos como comida, renta y medicinas, terapias, y mas aun los gastos implica su defensa, por estar recluido de manera injusta.

Mi hijo no ha cometido ningún delito. Todo lo que ha hecho es trabajar duro y buscar una vida mejor para nosotros. Pero hoy está bajo custodia y no puede ayudarme como siempre lo ha hecho.

Por eso recurro a ustedes con el corazón en la mano.

Cualquier apoyo, por pequeño que sea, me permitirá cubrir mis necesidades básicas mientras mi hijo enfrenta su proceso y luchamos por su libertad.

Su ayuda me permitirá tener alimento, medicinas y un techo.

Me dará un poco de tranquilidad mientras espero el regreso de mi hijo.

Y, sobre todo, me recordará que aún existen personas solidarias.

Cada aporte cuenta. Cada gesto de apoyo es un rayo de esperanza en este momento tan difícil.

My name is Ángel Melendez Rincon, and today I find myself in the difficult position of reaching out to all my friends, acquaintances, and family members to ask for help, to survive and face the situation my son, Ángel Rafael, is going through after being wrongfully detained by ICE.

As many of you know, I have a disability that prevents me from working. I also underwent surgery on my left shoulder due to the long-term use of crutches for more than 40 years. Because of this, I depend completely on my son as my provider, he has been my economic and physical support. He has been my hands, my feet, and my strength.

Recently, ICE detained him, even though his asylum case is still pending and his Temporary Protected Status (TPS) has been approved. Since that day, my life has changed completely. I have been left without his care and without the resources to cover my basic expenses such as food, rent, medicine, and therapy, and now, with the added burden of the legal costs related to his unjust detention.

My son has not committed any crime. All he has done is work hard and seek a better life for both of us. But now he is in custody and can no longer help me as he always has.

That is why I come to you with all my heart.

Any help, no matter how small, will allow me to cover my basic needs while my son faces his legal process and we fight for his freedom.

It will give me some peace of mind while I wait for my son’s return.
