Hello and greetings, to my family, church family, extended family, my social media family and my friends! If I did not cover you, then hello EVERYONE! :)
I would like to extend a warm thank you for taking the time to read this. The description of this fundraiser is a bit lengthy but please feel free to jump to the end. The meat and potatoes are waiting for you there. If not, let's get started!
Let me introduce myself; I am Cyrus's mom, Shaneen. Who is Cyrus? Great question! Cyrus is the kid in the middle of the picture. The 1 with the red arrows
pointed at him- yep, that's him! He is shy, so let me introduce him.
Cyrus is a 16-year old boy, who plans on being a United States Military officer as a pilot/engineer (hopefully Air Force One). After he retires from his time in the service, he plans to create a company, building and/or designing planes.
Since the boy learned to crawl, he would drag huge Tonka trucks everywhere he went. As he got older, his collection grew to over 25 trucks; they included bulldozers, cranes, dump trucks and so on. He would watch videos of what each truck did and began imitating what he learned in our back yard.
One afternoon, I studied his "town" and discovered he wasn't just building mud piles. He was building military forts- filled with armored storages, airports, firehouses with firetrucks, schools and even hospitals.
As he grew older, his forts multiplied- eventually landing their way into my living room, where no one could walk through. After the destruction of 1 fort (no one knows what happened), he began to place his focus solely on planes. There was only 1 airport and since airplanes flew everywhere, his toys were not in every room of my house.
His fascination of airplanes grew as he sat and watched them for hours at a small airport behind my dad's job. By the age of 10, Cyrus told me his goal was to become a pilot. To make sure, he went for a helicopter ride over New York City. After he landed, he was elated and said, "I'm definitely becoming a pilot, mom!"
We then found a nearby piloting school in New Jersey and he is now earning piloting hours to fulfill his dream. To also help prepare him, he has joined a local boyscout troop, which he has been a part of for the last 3 years and also joined his high schools ROTC program, which he has been with since freshman year. He has been in marching competitions as well as commanded his team to perform Color Guard (the guys who hold the flags) for Governor Chris Christie 2 times last school year.
This brings me to the reason I am starting this fundraiser - Cyrus has 2 years of high school left. This year, his junior year, he has been accepted into a college preparatory school in Middletown, New Jersey. They have a phenomenal ROTC program as well as a Civil Air Patrol program, both which will only enhance his chances of becoming a piloting officer in a military academy.
So far, we have reached a total of $6,200 already in grants and savings. Our balance thus far is only $6,000. Our goal is to raise the $6,000 by seeking 100 willing participants who will donate $60 each. Anything in excess of our goal will go towards next year’s tuition and/or Cyrus' piloting training hours. Our goal is to reach this amount by December 31, 2015, which is in 123 days. The school is generous enough to put me in a payment plan, in lei of the total payment due right away, but I hope to pay it off in full! Hallelujah!
Please know that we will be posting weekly updates of monies given and the amount still needed to reach our goal. This will be done to dispose any ideas of dishonesty.
If you would like to give and have any questions and/or concerns, please feel free to contact me via the link given or simply inbox me. I also ask that you allow at least 24 hours for a response.
Thank you so much, we love you, and may God bless you as you give!
*If you cannot give $60, please know that there is no limit on donation amount. We will accept any amount.*
“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened."
(Matthew 7:7-8)
Thank You!
