When I gave birth to my daughter, Solaya, she suffered a traumatic birth injury called shoulder dystocia. I had never heard of this until it happened to her. During labor, her shoulder got stuck in my pelvic bone requiring major physical manipulation to free her. It was the most excruciating pain I have experienced in my life. Solaya’s nerves were severely stretched and damage was caused to the nerves that control her left arm. Her arm has been paralyzed since birth and she’s only able to open and close that hand.It has been 5 months now and things are getting worst. We took her to the ER to have an X-ray done and that is when we found out that her left arm was fractured during labor, also her shoulder is dislocating itself from the socket. She was finally able to see a neuro surgeon and an orthopedic surgeon,  their advice is to have surgery as soon as possible. They have recommended a specialist, Dr. Nath, who is in Texas. The first procedure is to take a nerve from her leg and transplant it to her neck. With this procedure her arm won't function 100% but it will give her some mobility.
