Let's support Chiara!
In October 2015 Chiara of Solarian Abyssinians imported a boy from the Ukraine to enhance the Abyssinian breed within Italy. Upon arrival the boy came with a sore on his leg. After the sore was operated on and drained, it was still failing to heal. A biopsy was completed on the kitten and it resulted in a rare condition soldemly seen in cats called Mycobacterium Bovis (also commonly known in humans as Tuberculosis).
Mycobacterium Bovis is extremely contagious to both animals and humans. For several months Chiara and her animals were left in quarantine within their house. During this time tests were completed on all of the animals as well as Chiara to ensure that the Mycobacterium Bovis was not transmitted to anyone else however; this resulted in every cat Chiara owned testing positive for the disease.
Chiara to date has tested negative on three occasions, and is yet to complete the final test to be given the all clear.
Chiara has not only lost over 15 years worth of hard work as a cat breeder; but her feline family which has obvisouly left her heartbroken. Mycobacterium Bovis is a horrible disease that left Chiara nursing her babies whilst they struggled to breathe.
This is a burden no breeder should have to bare.
To top the whole saga off Chiara has now had to dispose of all household belongings that could not be disinfected to a high enough standard.
This could have happened to any cat breeder. We are hoping the cat breeders of the World will come together and help Chiara to get started again.
I myself will be greatful for anyone who opens their heart to Chiara so she can go out to purchase lines to start over again. Without this help it will be an impossibility for her.
Chiara is a very humble lady and does not want charity - but I feel if we all just gave a little bit we could get her started again.
