SolarCar at VT: 2024 American Solar Challenge
SolarCar at Virginia Tech will be competing in the 2024 American Solar Challenge for the first time in more than 20 years. We need your help! Read to learn more about our team's story and the benefits that come with supporting us.
The last time Virginia Tech had a solar car team was in the late 1990s.
This year, two transfer students decided to bring it back to life and formed Solar Car at Virginia Tech. Since its inception, they have collected a group of 30+ engineering students who are dedicated to the goal of designing and building a solar electric vehicle to compete at the American Solar Challenge.
Sponsored by the likes of Blue Origin and MathWorks, the American Solar Challenge is a long-standing national engineering competition where student teams from universities such as MIT, Berkeley, and Illinois come together to race the solar cars that they developed.
With this campaign, we are inviting you to support our goal to put Virginia Tech back in the competition for the first time in more than 20 years.
All donated funds will be withdrawn into our team business bank account and help us purchase items such as steel tubes, brake calipers, solar cells, batteries, and other parts that will help us build our solar car!
As a token of our appreciation,
For a donation between $20 - $250, you will receive:
