Solar Solutions to Revive a Community in Gaza

From the heart of Deir Albalah, Gaza, I reach out to you with a plea for survival and a vision for resilience. My name is Rawan Abdalati, and the ongoing conflict has stripped us of life's most basic necessities – water, electricity, and hope.

Our Goal: $9,900

Imagine living without power for months. No lights, no refrigeration, no fan in scorching heat. This is our daily reality. To create and promote this very campaign, I walk for two hours each way under the burning sun and extremely high temperatures, just to reach a place that provides both electricity and internet for a few precious hours a day. This grueling journey is not only how I'm able to share our story with you today, but also how I'll keep you updated on our progress if we're fortunate enough to receive your support.

Here's how your donation will illuminate our lives:

1. Solar Panels: $4,000

Four high-quality panels at $1,000 each, harnessing the abundant sunlight of Gaza.

2. High-Capacity Batteries: $2,000

Two robust 200-amp batteries at $1,000 each, essential for storing energy and pumping water.

3. Powerful Inverter: $2,900

A 5-kilowatt inverter to efficiently convert solar energy, crucial for operating our water pump.

4. Water Pump and Installation: $1,000

To bring life-giving water from underground to our community.

Total: $9,900

This isn't just about powering a home – it's about reviving an entire community:

1. Water for All: We'll pump water from an underground well, providing this essential resource to families in our block struggling with severe shortages.

2. Preserving Our Heritage: With only a few green spaces and trees left in Gaza after the bombing and destruction, it is critical to save and preserve what's left. Olive trees and fruit orchards are the heart of Palestinian culture. Nurturing these trees maintains our spiritual and historical connection to the land, allowing us to pass on our agricultural legacy to future generations.

3. Food Security: Our land has 15 olive trees, 4 fig trees, 6 lemon trees, 3 orange trees, and 30 palm trees. These trees are dying due to lack of water. Reviving them will provide nutritious food, currently unaffordable for many in Gaza. We believe in sharing during times of struggle, promoting food security and resilience against famine for our entire community.

3. Medical Necessity: My injured father needs consistent power for cooling to manage his severe heat-induced allergic reactions that are progressively worsening every day.

4. Economic Revival: As a freelance translator and marketing specialist, I've lost all clients due to power outages. Reliable electricity will allow me to work again, support my family, and reduce our dependence on donations.

5. Community Hub: Our home will become a beacon of hope, offering neighbors a place to charge devices, store medications, or simply escape the oppressive heat.
