I'm a former volunteer fundraising to help Pangiran and Juean install a solar power system on their organic farm in rural Borneo. This will provide reliable electricity for essential upgrades like refrigeration, freezing, charging ports, and Wi-Fi. These improvements will allow the farm to host more volunteers and eco-tourists as their mission continues to expand and thrive.

Pangiran is a member of the indigenous Lundayeh tribe, based in the village of Long Pa'sia, in the heart of Borneo's Highlands. He is an environmental activist, community leader and one of Malaysia's only certified organic farmers (among many other things!) and is working extremely hard to stimulate organic farming and environmental stewardship throughout his community via the promotion and revival of traditional Lundayeh wisdom and culture. Pangiran works tirelessly in the face of never ending adversity such as illegal logging, corruption and youth emigration.

His farm is situated on his ancestral land- a wide expanse of beautiful and luscious mountainous rainforest, concealing pristine rivers, ancient monuments and an abundance of endemic flora and fauna.

Pangiran's vision is to allow anyone and everyone to experience his farm. It is open to volunteers, eco-tourists, school children, scientists etc and is a hub for knowledge exchange within the local community. As visitor numbers increase, a solar unit on the farm would be valuable beyond words. This would allow Pangiran and his wife Juean to host more volunteers, feed more tourists, cater for desk based researchers' and begin his new venture into organic aquaculture- a niche economy which he hopes the villagers of Long Pa'sia will become pioneers in.

If you would like to make a direct and tangible impact to help protect Borneo's highland forests, promote indigenous voices, sustainable economies and environmental stewardship, then please consider donating. It would be incredibly helpful.
