Help bring a shining light to families in the Bahamas. Hurricane Dorian destroyed much of the island's electric grid and the Bahamian people will be without electricity and evening illumination for months. Having a renewable source of light help makes life in the aftermath of the storm bearable. Help us illuminate their homes and hearts.
Our goal: Send 1,000 LuminAid PackLite Nova solar-powered lamps to the Bahamas in the next week.
Details: The disaster relief discounted price of the lamps is $10 each (60% off regular price). LuminAid has agreed to do a matching donation of one lamp for every two lamps we purchase. This means that for every 100 lamps we purchase they will donate 50 lamps! The lamps will be delivered to our contact in the Boca Raton, FL/Bahamas (Cesar Ochoa, Manager of Bahamas Adventures). Cesar will hand-deliver them directly to families in need.
About me: My name is Karel Hilversum. I am natural from Puerto Rico, now living in Ithaca NY. I am the Co-Director fro Cornell Outdoor Education, in Cornell University. In 2017 we experienced a similar disaster during hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico and were able to help hundreds of families by sending them solar-powered lamps.
