Power for field doctors in Ukraine

Hi, my name is Camille. When I met Artem from Ukrainian charity RePower Ukraine, the story of how this charity wants to make a difference by powering field doctors and hospitals really moved me, as my grandmother was born in Ukraine and she too suffered terrible conditions during the 1920's when she almost died after giving birth to my mother because the war meant there were no medical facilities for her when she needed them. Their lives were saved by one courageous doctor who took them home until my grandmother regained her strength. I learnt very early on the value of solidarity and this is why I feel passionate about this appeal! To provide much-needed power for Ukrainian field doctors operating in difficult conditions, often without electricity, is helping to save lives because powerbanks provide them with head torches and phones to light the operating table when there is no time to wait for the power supply to be restored.

RePower Ukraine is already working with 11 hospitals throughout Ukraine, providing them with solar power to ensure they have a back up when electricity fails or has failed. But right now, their most urgent work is to provide doctors operating in field hospitals close to the frontline with the tools they need to save lives.

Power banks are now an essential tool for field doctors who have no access to electricity as the power infrastructure has been destroyed, or weakened to the point where electricity is only available a few hours a day. Once charged, power banks provide enough power for their head torches and other critical equipment to deal with medical emergencies. Each Watt of energy provided through powerbanks and independent power supply will save lives!

A power bank to recharge a headlight or a device used for operations costs the price of a very small round at the pub, so please consider donating now! Generators and solar panels are more expensive, but they too are desperately needed...The more you give, the more equipment we can provide: with portable solar generators, power banks can be recharged continuously without having to worry about interruptions in the power supply.
