We, team of four, from the UK (3) and Russia (1) work on very innovative investigation of solar activity using solar background magnetic field (SBMF) as a new probe of this activity.
This investigation helped us to discover a pair of principal components of SBMF variations over time and latitudes (Zharkova, 2012) http://computing.unn.ac.uk/staff/slmv5/kinetics/MNRAS-2012-Zharkova-2943-53.pdf and derived mathematical formulae to describe these components (Shepherd et al, 2014) http://computing.unn.ac.uk/staff/slmv5/kinetics/shepherd_etal_apj14_795_1_46.pdf.
We shown that their sum, or summary curve, corresponds to solar activity index called average sunspot numbers and predicted the solar activity over past and future millennia (Zharkova et al, 2015) https://www.nature.com/articles/srep15689.
We also answered numerous objections by the opponents who try to diminish our discovery in Zharkova et al, 2018 http://computing.unn.ac.uk/staff/slmv5/kinetics/reply2usoskin_jastp17.pdf
Recently we have expanded the summary curve to 120 000 years and found the effects of solar inertial motion (SIM) on solar irradiance and terrestrial temperature in Zharkova et al, 2019 https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-019-45584-3#comment-4583106578, which confirms that a large part of the terrestrial temperature increase has to be caused by the SIM and the other part can be caused by human technologies and activities.
We desperately need funding to expand our research to derive the principal components from the data taken by other observatories and to prove that Sun is a perfect dynamo machine operating the double dynamo in the solar interior, which provide the visible signs of solar and terrestrial activity observed over the past centuries and millennia.
We hope to prove that the Sun is not stochastic and can exist for another 4.5 billion years as expected.
