Solar4Students Solar Pavilion

School Solar Pavilions for Underrepresented Youth

We are a team of youth who believe that student-led projects can be created for a generation in support of a future full of changes. Our School Solar Pavilion Project was designed by the team to tackle a lack of equity in access and affordability for our community in the sustainable, clean energy revolution. After learning about the lack of solar energy options in our community, we created a project that addresses several elements of a community with potential by regarding elements of student leadership, education, career opportunities, and exterior design.

HERE’S WHAT WE’RE TRYING TO DO AND WHY IT’S IMPORTANT:

We are Solar4Students, a team of youth scholars who have designed a pavilion powered by solar panels that will help our community and help inspire underrepresented youth to make a positive change in their community. The School Solar Pavilion Project can reach teachers through the creation of a solar pavilion curriculum in sustainability and the engineering design process, which the Youth Scholars and AESD teachers, working with QESST, are already building out and implementing at multiple AESD campuses.

HERE’S WHERE WE ARE IN OUR FUNDRAISING AND WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:

With the help of our current collaborators, we have materials and pledges half the funding needed to implement the first prototype of our design on the Barcelona Elementary School Campus in the Alhambra Elementary School District. Our team is asking for the most generous donation that is in your control in order to reach our price point. We need an additional $25,000 to build/create the first student solar pavilion on the property of Barcelona Middle School. With your help, we can further the creation of a new curriculum in sustainability and the engineering design process while giving students a more inspiring future.
