SOLACE is a work for five dancers that celebrates the beauty, communal joy, and deep comfort found in Inwood Hill Park. This fun, immersive, and unconventional show will be completely free and open to the public. Performances will take place in June 2022.

 

SOLACE will be my first full-length work, and my first work involving other dancers since late 2019. I am self-producing these performances, which is a tremendous amount of work. I need your support!

 

Having spent the entirety of the pandemic organizing with other dancers to improve wages and working conditions in our field, I am determined to be a responsible and equitable employer. As such, I am committed to hiring my dancers as employees and paying them a living wage. Fortunately, I have received a grant that covers most of the dancers' pay. However, I need additional funds to cover payroll taxes, workers' compensation insurance, and liability insurance.

 

Other expenses include: production assistants, photography, videography, costumes, marketing, and outdoor essentials for the dancers including sunscreen, water, and snacks.

 

I'd also like to be able to pay myself for this project... which would also be a first for me!
