In the first week of January, my 67-year-old dad, Sandy, suddenly experienced slurring of speech and limb weakness. After initial diagnosis of a stroke, scans revealed a brain tumor the size of a small egg. He was diagnosed with CNS Lymphoma, a rare type of cancer where lymphocytes (a type of white blood cell) grow abnormally in the brain or spinal cord, forming tumors.

After undergoing a craniotomy to remove the tumor, he was discharged home. Unfortunately, the tumors weren't fully removed, and he requires chemotherapy. The cost of chemotherapy alone is 212,000 PHP (£2,728.28) for 7 sessions, with hospital admission fees not included. Despite seeking government assistance, he's only had two cycles due to financial constraints.

This October, my 64-year-old mom, Sol, was admitted with Community-Acquired Pneumonia. She went into respiratory failure and was intubated, sedated, and put on a mechanical ventilator. She's currently stable in the Medical Intensive Care Unit, but the hospital bill is already 1,002,495.17 PHP (£12,814.04) as of October 23, 2025.

As a critical care nurse, I never imagined I'd be on the receiving end of having both parents in intensive care in the same year. No amount of training has prepared me for this emotional and financial rollercoaster.

As an only child to elderly and retired parents, the financial burden relies on me and I'm struggling to support them through this challenging time. I'm raising funds for the rest of my dad's chemotherapy and my mom's hospital bills. Any contribution, big or small, would be greatly appreciated.
