Hey guys, im sorry it has come to me asking for money like this.

I’ve been going through a hard patch economically lately and this is the last straw.

Between my past apartment raising my rent over 50% and having two hospitalizations this year already, money has been tight and I found myself having to move to a new place. I had been saving every penny for months to be able to afford moving and even then it was hard, but we made it with just enough perfectly saved for next month’s rent so i can economically balance myself out again. However, Tuesday night i found myself receiving a notification of movement in my bank account and Wednesday morning my card was being declined when buying a $2 drink. I checked my bank account and i am surprised with over $2100 dollars having been removed from my account, my savings and my rent gone. Leaving my account in full on -800 negative balance.

I’ve been since then on constant calls with the bank from 8am to 6pm for two days without a proper answer on what has happened. The best they were able to tell me (with a lot information being inconsistent) is that at some point, most likely when moving apartments and throwing away old paperwork someone might’ve gotten ahold of an old check from 2021 from my work and has altered it to cash it out, taking the funds from my savings when the bounce happened.

Long story short, i’ve been told different information but the consistent elements are that 1. I am not being allowed to file a fraud claim for multiple reasons including the fact that they insist that since its an old work check it should be my boss that files for the fraud with their bank and then return the money to me. 2. My boss attempted to help and file the fraud claim but since their bank bounced the check immediately as a duplicate from two years ago, they didn’t loose any money therefore theres bo claim to file. 3.the information on how this check was deposited and how the money was moved is unclear but so far ive been blamed for “not properly disposing of the old check” 4. Ive been told that there isnt “much the bank can do for me” and that it doesnt seem that this is going to be resolved soon, they told me best case scenario i get SOME but not all money back and it going to take a long time for it to be investigated and resolved if im able to continue pushing for them to take my case at all.

which leaves me with my hands tied since its the end of the month and rent is due next week for my apartment which i am now at full loss of my capability to pay. So whilst im able to get this resolved i had multiple friends ask and offer help if I do a GFM and here i am. Please if youre able to help i hope to be able to pay everybody back in someway. Im absolutely desperate right now.
