Hi, I'm Andrew, a photographer fundraising for 1 Ukrainian woman and her 11 year old daughter. They were displaced by the war. The trip is to visit the grandmother since It's been 4 years since Sofiia and her Babusya saw each other. This trip was planned for but costs have spiked unreasonably because of the Iran war.
Why am I doing this?
I've been donating my time every fathers day to photograph Ukrainian mothers and their children displaced by the war. They send the photos to the father as a gift. With some families I became a friend and followed their stories. I learned that unfortunately this family lost the husband/father to the war. It was devastating news and we were unsure if we should do more photos. Now we take them for the grandparents.
I've selected photos that I've taken of them over time which are less identifiable than others but enough to see a part of their love and enduring spirit. The funds raised will directly be given to Victoriia. Please consider any contribution that will soften the blow for Victoriia. She had a budget ready based on last year's prices and I'm looking to offset that for her.
I've learned that it's a 2-3 day journey to travel near Ukraine and then to catch a long distance train or bus. There have been some sketchy vans driving people across the border I did not want them to take just to save a few $$. I'll be making my own contributions directly to them.
Thank you
Andrew
