Sofia Baca

We are so grateful for your condolences and your prayers and your love. We are blessed to know so many caring people. Please continue to keep our family, and Millie, Sofia’s fiancée, in your prayers and beautiful thoughts.

We have had many people reach out and ask to help with the monetary expenses that come with saying goodbye to a loved one. I guess if you know, you know. We are learning. We are grateful for your offer and are somewhat overwhelmed with your ‘sentimientos y cariño’.

Additionally, Sofia was blessed to be loved by her fiancée, Millie, for the past three years. They were soul mates and with Sofia’s new job, they were finally planning a housewarming party, a vacation, and eventually, a wedding. As you can imagine, her world has completely changed. She is currently unemployed. Included in the amount is a couple months rent and pet care for their two dogs and two cats, to allow her time to find a job and not worry about relocating, if necessary, immediately.

Side note: If you know me, you know that I am a sort of ‘suffer in silence’ or ‘suck it up buttercup’ kinda person and I often do not ask for help with burdens I perceive I can bear, even if they are very difficult. If you knew Sofia, she dreamed of a world where people would live in communities like the Hunters and Gatherers of the past. Where life was lived in a close community with purpose. Where a child who cried was picked up within a few seconds by one of the caring adults in the community. Where people gathered to make food and they ate and danced and worked together. Where the elderly were taken care of and honored. (Psshhhh, get her started on this and she would talk your ear off about anthropological studies and current research on tribes living in South America, how neurodivergent people actually fit, and, and, …) Anyway, she might be proud of me for even doing this and saying, Hey, community, I am accepting your help.
