UPDATE:

At the end of Feb, my top surgery was cancelled three days before the surgery was supposed to take place. 

After taking the month off work, scheduling a month of people to come and help look after me, and psychologically preparing myself for this massive surgery, this was a huge shock, and a huge grief. As I've come to terms with it, I've decided to see a different surgeon.

My new top surgery date is May 8th. 

The biggest setback of going with this new surgeon is that he is $3500 more expensive. I had enough saved for my original surgeon, which would've covered surgery, anaesthetist, hospital fees and medical insurance, but with the last minute change of plans, I don't have enough to cover it. If I'd known in advance I would've budgeted to raise a higher amount. I'm aiming to raise another 5k to make sure my ass is covered. Friends, I am asking if you can give anything you can afford to help me raise the money by the 8th of April, when the first payment is due. Even $20 makes a difference, please send this to 3 friends and I'm sure we can raise the money in no time.

Hello!!

My name is Sodi, I'm a trans nonbinary actor living in Naarm/Melbourne in the hellish year of our lord 2024.

I would love to raise some money for my top surgery operation. Anything you can afford to give me makes an enormous difference as I have very little savings and few prospects of making any kind of big bucks.

I reckon Gender affirming care in Australia (such a top surgery) should be free, but for now, I have to rely on my community networks to help see me through.

Right now is a messed up time to be trans (in Melbourne, in Australia, in the World...) A lot of hatred coming our way, vitriol, violence, misinformation about us being spread around. Which is a shame because what we really wanna do, is dance and have sex and love stuff and be annoying to the status quo. If you help out by giving $20 or more to my top surgery fund, that will enliven the cause as I will then be out there, barechested, mid-protest, doing a silly sexy strip tease to distract, enchant and confuse the nation's media outlets, wary onlookers and cooked-in-the-head right wing extremists. Basically, fight oppression from within (my own body) !

EDIT: WOW THANK YOU! I'm blown away at the response! I've increased the amount I'm aiming for to 10 grand, basically because I realised that I will need to cover the costs of health care over the next year or two, and also that I won't be able to work for 6 weeks while I recover, and will need some money to live on during that time. Whatever I don't use I will be paying it forward to fund other people's gender affirming surgery.
