Socorro Castorena

Socorro is a beloved teacher from Neighborhood for Learning. She has been teaching for 14 years in CVUSD, serving all age levels. She was also a teacher for 6 years in Mexico, helping extremely impoverished and undereducated children and families in need, through education. She is a teacher that puts every ounce of her heart and passion into her job. She has been and is always there for the children and their families, whenever she can be of help. She was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis 14 years ago. After fighting against this disease for 14 long years, she has now gotten worse and has started the evaluation process to be placed on a waiting list for lung transplants. She is now unable to work and needs to pay numerous medical bills that only continue to pile up. We would like to help someone who has always given her heart to everyone else around her, now in her time of need. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
