Help Support Austin's Homeless Community
Tax deductible
Want to join us in making a difference? We are raising money to benefit Socks for the Sole, and any donation will help make an impact.
A group of students at the University of Texas saw a need in their own community: homelessness. They were created to help the homeless population of Austin, Texas, and in doing so increase community awareness and involvement. There are more than 7,000 people experiencing homelessness in Austin, Texas and their needs are often unmet. Living without reliable shelter can create many health problems that most people don't have to think about, especially in the COVID-19 era.
We are a crowdfunding team from Texas State University, our goal is to provide meaningful assistance in the efforts of helping individuals experiencing homelessness. Hays county experiences the same desires as Travis county and the need of wanting to help people. WHY SOCKS? The items that are donated come from requests that the homeless community struggles to obtain. Socks, underwear, and feminine hygiene are some of the least common products that get donated to shelters because they have to come new. These items are crucial to health and wellness because when they lack these items, multiple foot problems and fungal infections can occur. Homelessness reduces the overall health and safety, plus it weakens the immune system's ability to fight disease. Your donations will help Socks for The Sole purchase these products. For more information about Socks for the Sole, please visit their website www.txsocksforthesole.org.
WHY SOCKS FOR THE SOLE? Our team has seen and recognized the problem that goes on around our community first-hand. Living in the Austin, Texas Metropolitan area has given us a unique perspective. Some of the homeless people we see and communicate with on a daily basis make this fundraiser more personal for our team. People living on the streets are often overlooked by society and viewed as less than others, which is why we want to make an effort into bringing further awareness and support to our community.
Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause which means so much to us.
