Lieve allemaal,

Na ruim 2,5 maand coschap lopen in het ziekenhuis in Sengerema, hebben we kunnen zien hoe ongelofelijk hard het personeel hier werkt. Dagelijks worden er enorm veel ernstig zieke patiënten geholpen. Toch is de basale zorg nog steeds niet voor iedereen betaalbaar. Veel mensen hier hebben geen zorgverzekering en kunnen de kosten van medische zorg niet dragen.

Gelukkig hebben we hier de ‘social welfare’: twee lokale medewerkers die zich inzetten voor de mensen die het écht niet kunnen betalen. Zij beoordelen of een patiënt de noodzakelijke zorg zelf kan betalen, en als dat niet zo is, springen zij bij. Zo krijgt toch iedereen de kans op goede zorg.

Hiervoor is geld nodig, en daar willen we ons me graag voor inzetten. Elke donatie gaat voor 100% naar dit fonds en komt direct ten goede aan de patiënten in ons ziekenhuis. Als je iets kunt missen, wordt dat ontzettend gewaardeerd!

Dear all,

After more than 1.5 months of doing my clinical internship at the hospital in Sengerema, I’ve seen how incredibly hard the staff here work. Every day, a huge number of seriously ill patients are treated. Yet, basic healthcare is still not affordable for everyone. Many people here don’t have health insurance and can’t afford the cost of medical care.

Fortunately, we have ‘social welfare’ here: two local staff members who are dedicated to helping those who truly cannot pay. They assess whether a patient can afford the necessary care, and if not, they step in. This way, everyone still has a chance to receive good care.

To make this possible, funds are needed—both for the salaries of the two staff members and to cover the patients’ medical costs. I would love to support this. Every donation goes 100% to this fund and directly benefits the patients in our hospital. If you’re able to spare something, it would be deeply appreciated!
