Hi my name is Alex Carter. I am fundraising for help with costs regarding my studies in social care with a particular focus in alcohol addiction.

As a recovering alcoholic I have thorough knowledge of the extreme difficulties regarding the long road to recovery.

I have been inspired to help people with this awful disease that is a significant problem in my community.

My studies will begin at the end of January. Unfortunately I cannot get access to a student loan as the course is through the open university therefore I am not eligible for this. I can apply for a bursary, however this amounts to £250.

The course hours are 36 per week and I will work as much as I can outside of study time.

Any help will be greatly appreciated so I may finish the course and eventually help vulnerable people struggling with mental health and addiction.
