Help For My Son To Attend Soccer Camp in Barcelona
Donation protected
Hello everyone. My name is John Domina, and my son is Dylan Domina, age 9. Dylan recently received a rare opportunity to participate in an international soccer camp and tournament in Barcelona, Spain, with the esteemed and world famous soccer organization, FC Barcelona. At the camp, not only will he join kids from around the world to play and continually learn soccer, but he will be able to meet and coached by some of the best soccer coaches in the world. This would be a dream come true for Dylan.
My wife, Kati and I, are trying to raise enough money to be able to send Dylan to Barcelona, for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Dylan’s soccer passion began at age 1 1/2 when I enrolled him in his first soccer league ( Little Kickers) near our house.
I have always thought my children that if you work hard, you will succeed. Having instilled this work ethic, Dylan has taken my mentoring to heart and has worked very hard in school and soccer. He is an outstanding student, a consistent team leader and has received many Awards throughout the years, both in school and on the field.
Recently this past winter, we put Dylan in a local FC Barcelona soccer camp that a friend of mine told me about. It was a slightly expensive camp, but it definitely was a one-of-a-kind experience in which coaches from Barcelona come to the United States and coach kids in the wonderful sport of soccer. At the beginning of the camp (which had about 100 kids or so), the director told us that based on the kids' performance during the week's full of skills and training, a select few kids would be invited to Barcelona, Spain, for a tournament and training at the famous FC Barcelona campus. I, of course, knew my son played well, but I'm sure there were a lot of kids that played well at the camp, so never in a million years did I think Dylan would get chosen to go to Barcelona, so when I was informed soon after the end of camp that Dylan was one of the few kids selected to go, you can imagine Kati and my surprise and happiness for my son and the experience he was soon about to encounter.
Then came the bad news. The invitation to play in Barcelona was not free, and payment is coming up soon. The tournament and camp starts on Aprill 11, 2019 and lasts until April 19th. Costs alone for the tournament and camp for my son and I (FC Barcelona requires that at least one parent go) is $5,000. Flights are roughly $600 each roundtrip ($1,200 for both of us).
Like every parent, I want to give my son every chance to succeed at what he loves. That is why I’m reaching out to you, for your support, to help me make my son’s dream come true.
Anything you can contribute would greatly help offset the expense of travel and the tournament/camp. I've never done a GoFundMe campaign before, and usually, I'm a bit too proud and embarrassed to ask for money, but I also know that this is a one-of-a-time experience for my son that I don't want him to miss because I can't afford it. Thus, I had to swallow my pride and reach out to friends and family for any help that you can offer. $10 here, $20 there, whatever it is, it all adds up and helps, and I can't thank you enough for helping make this "dream" a reality. If we are able to raise enough money to go, my family and I would be forever grateful for your assistance. We, of course, hope that Dylan's attendance at the tournament/camp may lead to bigger and better things or more opportunities for him with soccer, but even if it doesn't, it will at least be an experience that Dylan would never forget. :)
Thank you for your time in reading this, and thank you in advance for any amount that you can contribute. Happy New Year everyone.
