Madjer International Championships

Tax deductible
Please join me in supporting Socal Legacy's efforts to compete in the first annual Madjer Cup international youth beach soccer competition being held in Portugal this June. Your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate $5 or $500. Every little bit helps. More information is listed below. Thank you for your support.

Information from the Coach:

I have been a volunteer youth beach soccer coach for the past 5 years and started with a team of 11-year-olds back in 2013. Many of these young players are at a financial disadvantage, living in some of the rougher areas in Oceanside, CA and by participating in our fundraising events our friends, family members, and community have helped this team travel to and win two consecutive MBS National Championships in Florida and, more recently, the 2017 North American Sand Soccer Championships in Virginia Beach. Despite the economic challenges many of these players face, the generous support of the community has helped keep these young men actively involved in sports rather than getting involved with gangs, drugs, and other negative influences.

With 16 championship wins and an overall match record of 82-9-3, the team is considered by many as one of the best in the nation for their age division, attracting interest by other tournament organizers including major clubs from Brazil and Portugal, both of which have professional beach soccer leagues. We recently received an invitation to compete at the first annual Madjer Cup in Portugal, which is essentially a Youth Beach Soccer World Cup. It appears we are the only US team that has been invited and it would be an incredible multi-cultural experience, and an honor, for these young men to represent the US at this high-profile event, playing against teams from Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, France, the UK, Brazil and several other countries, but once again we are faced with financial challenges. That is where you can help make a difference.

We will be running many fundraising campaigns to meet our overall goal of $15,000 and the majority of the budget is for the players' air fare to get from Los Angeles to Portugal. Once there, the tournament organizers are providing some discounted transportation and accommodation packages, so the real challenge is just physically getting them to the event. Our funding goal for this particular GoFundMe campaign is $7,500.

The team is part of a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, so you can make a tax-deductible donation to “SoCal Legacy BFC”.

We hope you will consider helping the team and make a lifelong impact in the lives of these young men. They have worked very hard over the years and deserve a chance to represent their city, county, state, and country at this international event.

All donations are for the benefit of the players' expenses as the coach and team manager will be paying their own way.  Links to YouTube videos are included below so you can see the team in action.  Thank you so much for your consideration!
