Half marathon for SOBS in memory of Oliver

On Sunday 30th October (this coming Sunday). I am running the Leicester Half-Marathon. I have been contemplating for a long time whether to run on behalf of a charity, however at the time it didn’t seem right.

As I’m sure many of my friends know, Oliver, my brother and best friend, was very sporty and very competitive! Me and Ol were going to run the half marathon three years ago, but covid cancelled it (probably a good job as neither of us had trained for it)! I will be running the half marathon in memory of my best friend and beautiful brother Oliver who as many of you are aware passed away on the 12th February 2021.

I am running for Oliver, to make him proud (even if he would lap me twice in the time it’ll take me)! However, after some thought, I have decided that I will be accepting donations for SOBS. For anyone who hasn’t heard of this charity, SOBS (Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide) is a charity that helps families like ours as ‘only those of us who have experienced such tragedy can truly understand’. This is something very dear to my heart. I hope I can make you proud Ol. I’m running this for you! ❤️

More information about Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide: We exist to meet the needs and break the isolation of those bereaved by the suicide of a close relative or friend. Many of those helping have themselves been bereaved by suicide.
We offer emotional support, help and information in a number of ways.
Our aim is to provide a safe, confidential environment, in which bereaved people can share their experiences and feelings, thus giving and gaining support from each other.
