My name is Buckaroo Banzai and I need help!
Just about a week ago, I was hanging at my mom's work with my big sis Penny Pretty when I started to act all wonky. I went from my acting like my usual goofy self to being lethargic, crying in pain, and not eating or drinking.
I was lucky enough to get into the vet clinic the very next day and spent that day and the following three getting IV fluids. The vet believes I must have somehow gotten ahold of a toxin - possibly a stray ibuprofen or naproxin sodium I snarfed up - but we cannot say for sure.
There was some initial improvement in my condition and my kidney functions but without warning, I took a turn. Out vet clinic is closed Monday but my mom called a friend who helped her to administer subcutaneous fluids all day. I've had an X-ray and it shows unknown swelling in part of my intestine.
We did the barium test and everything passed through my system. But my energy is down, I don't want to eat or drink, and my levels are all over the place.
I'm only 1.5 years old and I'm the specialest boy! Scottish Deer Hounds are very rare in the United States and there is only one breeder in Arizona. My mom and dad waited a long time for my sister and I to come along. Every day, I go to work with my mom and I make the office such a happy place – they say I’m the best part of their job! I have very important work to do keeping them cheerful and I want to get back to my old self as soon as I can.
Our vet has tried his very best but we have reached a point where I need to go to specialists and that is not cheap. And just a couple a months ago my sister Penny ate a piece of concrete she found while our house was getting fixed and had to have emergency surgery to pay to remove the concrete. Mom is still trying to pay off that bill. We don’t yet know the exact cost for my work but our early research indicates it could be upwards of $8,000.
Please help me get healthy so I can carry on the important work I do playing with my sister and keeping my mom’s work a happy place!
