I’m trying to raise funds to help my mum pay for vet bills for Sandy, her mini Pomeranian

on the 27th June mum had taken Sandy for a short walk in the evening, when she was returning home, a neighbors dog was loose and had escaped through a cat flap. The neighbour had been taken into hospital that afternoon and my mum tried to contact him with no success so she took Sandy of her lead to put the loose dog on the lead and as Sandy is tiny, she picked her up to carry the rest of the way as she was almost home.

unfortunately the neighbours dog pulled my mum quite hard and Sandy slipped from her arms and broke her leg in the fall. We took her straight to the emergency vet and it was confirmed she’d broken her leg. My mum was devastated and of course blaming herself! Although all she was trying to do was keep the loose dog safe.

unfortunately with so many stories that pet insurance doesn’t cover most illnesses etc, my mum had literally one month before the accident cancelled the insurance.

so far the vets bill have reached £4,318.

Sandy had her operation on Wednesday this week and because she’s so tiny the option to operate to save the leg was unavailable as her leg would have shattered trying to put pins in.

so she had to have full amputation of her back leg.

we took her back to the vets this morning for a check up and her temperature was over 40 and she’s now got infection in the wound, so they’ve had to admit her for the day at the cost of another £800.

so although a go fund me was something I thought I’d never do, I feel it’s the only way to try to help my mum who is a pensioner now and lives on her own, to try to pay towards the ever growing vet bills.
