Hi I’m Dez I’m a father of 11 wonderful children, my lovely wife of nearly 30 years Jackie and myself have dedicated our lives to bringing up our large family. We have both always worked and own our own home, our children range in age from 28 down to 4 years, with the 3 oldest moved out with their own homes and families, (we have 6 beautiful grandchildren) 8 still remain at home, Jackie was unfortunately diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a form of blood cancer lurking in her bone marrow in may of this year, she also sufferers from a secondary condition amyloidosis caused by the cancer, which in simple terms has filled her body with amyloid light chains that have attacked her liver and kidneys, she’s currently in hospital under treatment from chemotherapy for the myeloma and amyloidosis, liver disease treatment and on kidney dialysis. Part of her diagnosis was a kidney biopsy, which after being performed caused her to bleed internally for days, after feeling extremely unwell in hospital she suffered a respirator arrest and was rushed to theatre. 2 major operation later she found herself in intensive care in a coma for 18 days. This has resulted in her being unable to stand or walk, movement in her legs is limited to a few difficult wiggles of her feet, she’s undergoing physiotherapy and has to be hoisted out of bed, in September 2023 Jackie started her lifelong dream of training to become a midwife at Keele university and was on hospital placement working 12 hour shifts right up to the week before being admitted to hospital where she’s now been for nearly 8 weeks , I have given up my work and business of 14 years to care for our 8 children and Jackie. Jackie my children and myself have been on a roller coasters ride for the last 2 months, this has taken its toll on us all particularly the children who Jackie has dedicated her life to, the youngest ones haven’t seen mommy properly for weeks and this is incredible distressing for them, my aim with this page is to raise the financial means to give Jackie a downstairs bedroom and shower room and make the house more accessible to her so when her stay in hospital is done she can return home to her children and try to rebuild our family life. If this was possible it would change the lives of my wife and her children and give them the opportunity to spend quality time together ❤️❤️
