For 6 years (of almost 20 years teaching in the city of Philadelphia), I was teaching at a rehab/residential school for adjudicated youths when I was laid off in June of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I have almost completely exhausted my savings, credit, and unemployment.
I know there are jobs out there for people willing to work hard, which I have all my life, but over the last few years I have had devastating injuries to my back, knees, and ankle, so physical labor is out of the question for me.
I will use the funds raised to pay my mortgage, my electric, gas, and water bills, along with internet (can't job search without it!).
I am down to about 1-2 months of enough money before I'm completely broke.
Any donations will help, the sooner the better.
I have often in my life donated to charitable organizations, but I never expected myself to be in this position, but here I am. My hope is to get back into teaching in the Fall, at which time I will continue helping today's youth into college, work, or military careers, whichever their desires are.
My gratitude knows no bounds!
