I have some very exciting news I’d like to share with you. This year, I’ve decided to graduate high school this December to allow me to take part in a discipleship training program through an organization called Youth With a Mission (YWAM) in January of 2021. YWAM is one of the largest mission organizations in the world with workers spread out among almost every nation. Since 1960 they’ve been working with youth to know God and make Him known, transforming lives across the globe. Tens of thousands of people have gone through the DTS program and I’m so excited for everything God has for me through this once in a lifetime opportunity.  

The DTS program I’d be taking part in is a five-month long journey that is designed to grow and challenge young believers in their faith. The program is broken into two parts, a lecture phase and an outreach phase. The lecture phase is three months long and focuses on knowing God, knowing His Word, and knowing His world. I would be living fulltime at a base alongside other believers and taking part in classes and training sessions to grow in my relationship with Jesus and prepare for the missional outreach ahead. The lecture phase allows you to connect and know God in an indescribable way. I’m so excited to get to do life with other believers every day and learn so much more about Jesus along the way. 

The outreach phase allows you to join others in taking the message and love of Jesus around the world. Through this portion I’d have the opportunity to serve others and serve Jesus in a way I can’t do at home. It is designed so that you're immersed in a new culture to be able to serve God through missions in whatever way he has placed on your heart. Through prayer and guidance during the lecture phase I’ll be able to decide where God is leading me to serve and go be the hands and feet of Jesus for the outreach portion of the program.  

In the past four years I’ve taken part in two cross cultural mission trips through my youth group and they have shaped who I am and my relationship with Jesus so much. Through these trips I think Jesus sparked a passion for missions in me and a love for the people I have been able to encounter. I’m not sure what He has for me in the future but for now I know He’s calling me to take part in this program and I can’t wait to see what He’s going to do through it. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to not only grow my relationship with Him but also form new relationships with people I don’t even know yet and show them the love that Jesus has for them. 

I’m very excited that God has opened the doors for this opportunity however I am in need of prayer and/or financial support. The total cost of living, learning, and travelling expenses through YWAM for the DTS program will be around $9,000.
