Hi. My name is Katherine and I am helping to raise money to support my cousin who is undergoing treatment for cancer. Rachel’s mom Wendy has included her story below.
In December 2022, my beautiful 32-year-old daughter, Rachel Kerr, was diagnosed with breast cancer. The news has been hard on the whole family. She discovered a lump in one of her breasts this past October. A mammogram revealed a single lump on one side and something suspicious on the other side. After biopsies of both breasts, the lump was found to be cancerous and the suspicious area on the other side was also cancer, contained in the milk duct. She is now on a journey that has many unknowns and that is scary.
Rachel has been married to James for 9 ½ years and they have a wonderful relationship. James is a loving and doting father and husband. They have an active daughter, Ruby, who is now 3 years old. She is smart, spunky and a bundle of energy. They have made a wonderful home for themselves and have 2 dogs, Bella and Daisy, and a cat Luna. They love to camp and go on Rod Runs. Rachel is a wonderful wife and mom. She works full time for Wilco Farm store as a warehouse supervisor. James is the service manager at Sunbelt Rentals.
Rachel has months of doctor’s appointments and treatment ahead of her. She has had one round of chemo and has 3 more to come. She has her treatments every other week. She has had MRI’s and now needs MRI biopsies of the abnormalities that were discovered with the MRI. At this point in her treatment, she doesn’t know if surgery will be needed to remove the lump or even the possibilities of a mastectomy. She is planning on working through treatment, but the coming months will be a challenge and she needs our support.
She’s a proud independent woman that would never ask for help, especially financial help. She always has a smile on her face, and you’d never know she is going through something so serious by looking at her now. Her cancer treatment is ridiculously expensive. Thankfully they have insurance but have a $5,000 annual deductible that must be met. She is still paying for medical bills from last year.
Now is our opportunity to give back to Rachel. Besides thoughts and prayers, lots of prayers, generosity in the form of donations you can send her way would be greatly appreciated. Everything we can do to help and surround her with love will allow her to focus on her health, healing and fighting this horrible cancer.
