Hello All
For years my wife and I have struggled with opening up about our struggles, dodging the questions of when we were going to have kids by giving the standard noncommittal answers while secretly dying inside. Showing the excitement for friends and family when they have new babies and feeling that hole in our hearts tear just a little bit wider open, pleading for our turn. However, through the years we have come to realize that we can't do this journey on our own. This is our story.
Being young and in love, we wanted to waste no time in starting our family together. After the first few months of disappointment, we started using ovulation tests and all the recommendations you can find on Google. No luck. After several disappointing test results and the disheartening information that our insurance covers pretty much nothing fertility related, we have been paying for everything out of pocket.
We have been visiting a fertility doctor and after our most recent visit she told us that the best plan of attack at this point is IUI (Inter Uterine Insemination.) We were excited that we had options but quickly became discouraged when the process was explained and the cost to make this a reality was revealed.
The difficulty that we have is financial. Each cycle is very expensive along with the meds and follow ups that go along with it. The process entails ultra sounds and blood tests over the period of a week and a half, along with close monitoring.
We would be incredibly grateful if we could raise enough money to cover one cycle. It is pretty clear how much this means to us financially, but it would also be a great source of comfort to us emotionally. We go into this with a sense of reluctance but after much prayer and discussion understand that the time is now. We know this is a lot to ask and we are so thankful to anyone who has taken the time to read our story. If you can’t afford to donate (we totally understand) but we do ask for your prayers and well wishes as these are the things that have helped us make it through this tough time so far. We have no expectations, but we would love it if you feel compelled to share our story. You never know who it might reach or who may be helped by reading it.
