❤️ Snowy’s Heart Fund

Two days after bringing our Snowy home this April, we took him to the vet for what we thought would be a simple check-up and routine vaccines. Unfortunately, Snowy hasn’t stopped receiving treatment since.

First, our sweet boy was diagnosed with skin cancer, requiring the removal of several polyps and partial ear amputations. Most recently, he underwent dental surgery to remove several teeth that had been neglected for far too long before he came to us. In between, he has had countless check-ups, tests, and medications to keep him healthy and comfortable.

This month marks Snowy’s 25th appointment with his doctors. We are grateful for every single day with Snowy, but the costs of his medical care are beginning to impact our ability to cover essentials like groceries and heating this winter. We will continue to make every possible sacrifice to protect the progress Snowy has made, but we are reaching out for help through fundraising to ease this load a little.

Snowy’s doctors now recommend a specialised heart scan (£451/$605 USD) to understand some troubling symptoms and ensure his heart is strong enough for any future treatments.

Snowy’s daily care is already intensive:

• To prevent the recurrence of his polyps, he needs prescription ear washes and steroid drops twice a week, which we have carefully incorporated into his routine since his surgery in April.

• Following his recent dental surgery, he now eats specialised, minced food prescribed by his vet (Royal Canin Sensitivity Control and Royal Canin Hypoallergenic) to support his renal and dental health.

• We are closely monitoring his allergies, which cause heaving, a swollen nose, restless sleep, and red eyes, and we treat him with a prescription eye wash twice daily.

The doctors’ recommendation for a heart scan is based not only on his allergy symptoms but also on some concerns noted during anaesthesia for his dental surgery.

We reached out to the shelter where we adopted Snowy, hoping for support for his urgent treatments. Unfortunately, they would not assist, stating that his condition was not considered “life-threatening,” despite the cancer and other health concerns never being disclosed at the time of adoption. They also declined help for his dental surgery, claiming it was not a “pre-existing condition” they were aware of before adoption. We have again reached out for help covering Snowy’s heart scan but have not had a promising response from the shelter.

❄️ Every cost of Snowy’s care so far has fallen on us to cover on our own. We are slowly balancing the cost of his ear surgery (£1,500) and dental surgery (£600) in monthly installments. His monthly specialised food and prescriptions now exceed £300.

❄️ Since bringing Snowy home this April, our total costs for his care (prescription food, medications, treatment installment plans) is now reaching £500 per month. At this point, we are overwhelmed with covering additional treatments and medications and we need help.

Through it all, Snowy has remained the gentlest, most grateful little soul.

He is the greatest gift to our family, and we are honoured to be his caregivers.

Snowy came from abandonment but chose us—he trusted Michael enough to cuddle with him for 15 minutes straight at the shelter in April. Since then, he has filled our lives with love and joy—holding hands, birdwatching at sunset, listening to jazz, and quietly guarding us on difficult days.
