In Loving Memory of Snow
Support for Crystal: Bereavement, Mental Health, and ESA companion
As friends, family, and members of the large community who love Snow and Crystal dearly, it is with heavy hearts that we create this GoFundMe on their behalf.
In June of 2025, Snow was rushed to the ER in critical condition with Gastric Dilatation-Volvulus (GDV), a life-threatening condition that causes the stomach to twist. Crystal and the veterinary team pursued every possible option for surgery and recovery. Tragically, following surgery, Snow passed away in the early hours of June 20th due to irreparable damage to his stomach tissue.
While his final hours were painful, Snow passed peacefully, held in Crystal’s arms, surrounded by friends and family who loved him deeply and fought for him until the very end.
Beyond being her best friend, Snow was also a trained ESA (emotional support animal). Before she found him, Crystal was struggling with debilitating anxiety that at times made it difficult to function in daily life, and she even had to take a sabbatical from work to focus on her mental health.
Snow wasn’t just comforting - he was actively supportive. He had been trained to notice changes in her behavior and body, such as heart rate and breathing patterns, and would gently interrupt or alert her when she was becoming highly anxious. There were countless times when he would nudge her, sit on her lap, or place himself between her and whatever was overstimulating her, helping her regulate before things escalated.
His presence helped ground her during anxious episodes and brought her back to a place of calm when she felt overwhelmed. With his support, she was able to return to work, manage her anxiety, and rebuild confidence.
Losing Snow has been heartbreaking not only because she lost a beloved companion, but because she lost a core source of emotional grounding in her life and has since needed to take another mental health sabbatical from work. This GoFundMe is raising funds to support Crystal during this time during her sabbatical due to an acute health and emotional crisis, alleviating financial stress to protect mental health during grief and trauma, as well as going toward adopting and training another emotional support dog so she can continue the healing and stability that Snow helped her build.
In the wake of this loss, we ask that our community come together to help ease the burden of this loss, support Crystal's leave from work, and fund her ability to adopt and train a new ESA. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps honor Snow’s memory and support Crystal during this painful time as she heals and charts her path forward. A portion of donations will also go towards the OSCAS Oasis Second Chance Animal Shelter where Snow was adopted from in his honor.
