Snowboarders facing tragedy: Help us support their families
Donation protected
On March 29th, 2024, the SDSU Ski and Snowboard Team was driving to Mammoth Mountain to go on what was supposed to be the last trip of the season. On the way to the mountain, three of our team members, Max “Macks” Aboudarham, Ryan Dong, and Matt Muyderman, were involved in a tragic head on collision. Several of their teammates as well as kind samaritans stayed by all of their sides until help arrived at the scene. Ryan was airlifted to a nearby hospital where he underwent surgery for a broken femur, a lower back fracture, and a broken collar bone and he is still in the ICU where he is being monitored for a blood clot found in his lung. Matt received surgery for internal injuries that were sustained during impact. Ryan and Matt are stable and expected to make a full recovery. With heavy hearts, we share that Macks passed away from his injuries. Macks was kind, energetic, and unarguably one of the funniest people we were all lucky to know and love. He was a proud member of the SDSU Snow team, the Ultimate Frisbee team, as well as the president of the Jiu Jitsu club. He is greatly missed and his memory will be carried by those who loved him forever. Any support from family, friends, the SDSU community, and anyone else is greatly appreciated during this time. We are looking to raise funds to relieve Ryan and Matt’s families from daunting medical bills as well as to support Macks’ family during this unimaginable time.
