Snout's Memorial and Tribute Fund

Donation protected
I am BanWynn Oakshadow, recent widower of Henrik "Snout" Isacsson.

Snout passed away on July 20, 2020 peacefully in his sleep with a smile on his lips. His passing has left a void that can't be filled.

Whether you knew him as Hernik or as Snout. Whether he was the tech geek, the oddest fusky in the Furry Fandom for three decades, the author, the artist, the Commodore 64 junkie, or the silly friend you chatted with online, few who knew him were not touched and enriched by that friendship. I met him online in 1992. He taught me how to live, laugh, and love again. We became boyfriends during his first visit to the US in 94, exchanged rings and vows in 2000, were formally married in 2007, and I moved to Sweden where we bought a little cottage in the woods a short time late. Those 28 years were not nearly enough time to have him as part of my life.

He helped Eurofurence get off the ground and rolling, was Guest of Honor at NordicFuzzCon 2, and had been accepted into the NFC Security team just this year. He never saw his art as art but others saw what he could not. He was a founding member of CTRL-C, the group that set up and ran the computer system and network for Linkoping University. He co-founded SPR MUCK with his University roommate and best friend, Martin, early in the furry fandom when cons were rare and text was how we lived. Last year, Snout ruefully admitted me that he had been making three times as much as I had by writing private commissioned stories while I wrote my short fiction for anthologies. We live in a small, sparsely populated community in a forest in southern Sweden where he was the person the locals called when their computers decided to go on strike. He was so much more than these little pieces.

Why is this campaign needed? Now that he is gone, we both need your help.

1) Swedish laws regarding the settlement of estates are rigid and the estate manager is going to cost 10,000sek+ before it is finished.
2) All of his private possessions will be taxed when the estate is settled.
3) I have had 3 strokes in the last 7 years which caused brain damage affecting my memory, physical problems, and language. I  recently shattered my left shoulder and have just started physical therapy. Our dream home is not safe for me to live in and I will have to move to a small apartment while the house and property are cleared and sold.
4) I am responsible for closing all of Snout's accounts and for paying all of his outstanding bills and other expenses
5) Most of the items in the house will need to be hauled to 2nd hand shops, charities, the recycling center, and the homes of anyone nearby who can use anything but what little I take with me when I move.
6) Snout's cancer, my strokes, and other medical problems made it impossible for us to renovate the cottage as we had dreamed and today it is worth slightly less than what we owe on it.
7) We were both members of a Scandinavian organization trying to reintroduce wolves back into their historical natural habitats and have contributed to that effort every year. I plan on making a special memorial donation to that organization in his name to sponsor the next pair of wolves to be relocated.
9) His birthday is Oct. 1 and I am planning to make it possible for all of his friends and loved ones to share in it by arranging to have the horrible movies he loved so much streamed for 24 hours and create a group on the Telegram app that anyone can join to share the pain together. The marathon will culminate with his favorite rotten tomato, the infamous "Manos, Hands of Fate". I would rather that day be remembered for moans, groans, and laughter than for shed tears.
9) I am a disabled veteran living on my Veterans Administration pension. I do not have the resources to do these things by myself.

Most of these expenses can be held off until after the estate is settled, but many bills are already overdue and more arrive every day. I am asking for whatever assistance you can comfortably provide. If you cannot donate, you can still help make the campaign a success simply by sharing a story or two of your time with him, some of the sillier and stupider stunts he pulled, and other memories with each other and with those who never got the chance to know him.

Any surplus funds will go to support sled dog husky rehabilitation and retirement programs. Those of you who knew him well, know that he believed that he was an Iditarod racing dog born into the wrong body. I'd like to help his four-legged brothers and sisters if I can.

Thank you and bless you all,
BanWynn Oakshadow

(This campaign is listed in Swedish Crowns because that is where I live. His friends ranged from Japan to Hawaii <-in both directions->. If you use a different currency, please check that day's exchange rate so that you do not get a nasty surprise as currency exchange values fluctuate.)

[The Furry portrait of Snout is a piece done for him by GoatM (FA) who captured the Snout I met many, many years ago perfectly.]
