Chris Snively's Cancer Fund
Donation protected
Hello everyone! My name is Josh Barrett and I am a retired U.S. Marine. I started this campaign to raise money for my lifelong friend and U.S. Army veteran, Chris Snively, who since December 2015, has been battling a rare form of skin cancer. The two most common kinds of skin cancer are basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma, which are sometimes called nonmelanoma skin cancer. These cancers are carcinomas that begin in the cells that cover or line an organ.
Anyone one of these carcinomas can be life threatening. Unfortunately for Chris, his body is fighting both basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma, that are metastasizing on his internal organs. The doctors are still not sure where, within his body, the cancer is generating from. Less than 5,000 people are diagnosed with this rare form of nomelanoma skin cancer each year. At this time, no one really knows what the correct treatment plan is for Chris because of the plethora of unknowns. However, Chris’ body appears to be responding well to the multi-approach treatment.
Donations to this campaign will go a long way in helping Chris’ help offset the loss of wages, especially during the summer months. Chris provides instruction at the Purdue Polytechnic Institute, but has been off work because of his need to undergo chemotherapy. Chris also recently relocated to Chicago to be closer to his treatment facility. The drawback is that move has caused Chris to be separated from his children Connor (5) and Zara (3). Chris absolutely adores and loves his kids! Donations will help Chris to be able to afford to pay for his kids travel to Chicago, assist in paying any unforeseen medical expenses, and help Chris get back on his feet!
Any donation amount in support of this campaign will be greatly appreciated!
To help kick start raising money, in honor of Chris, this year I am running the U.S. Marine Corp Historic Half Marathon in May. The race is 13.1 miles, and while Chris can't run the marathon, his battle against cancer has been a reminder to live and appreciate life to the fullest. The race is a reminder that all things are possible when you put your head down and continue to put one foot in front of another, no matter how tired and grueling it can be. As an extra challenge, if I train hard and finish the race in under two hours, I am hoping you might consider making a bonus contribution!
Please note that GoFundMe will deduct a 5% fee from each donation that this campaign receives. So if you wanted to make a $10.00, you would actually need to make $10.50 donation.
Thank you so much for your time and consideration. God Bless and Semper Fidelis,
Josh Barrett (aka Team Snively!)
