'Snip and Desist' End of second year project

About the Team

We are an enthusiastic and diverse group of students from all over the world, including the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Germany, Thailand, South Korea, and Singapore. We may be from different parts of the world, but we all have a passion to tell a compelling story!

Was there ever a moment in time where your life depended on your the way you look?

For Jin, a young shipyard worker in Singapore during 1972, that was his reality. The country had just imposed a long-hair ban to restrict deleterious ‘hippie’ influences from entering a new independent nation and affect the citizens. After much deliberation over hair length and workplace biases, Jin decided to merely shave his head bald for ease of maintenance. This was considered as a show of protest, and he was suspended from work for seven days.

His co-workers didn’t waste any time taking action. They rallied up in a peaceful protest in support of Jin. This powerful story showcases the strength of community spirit coming through a ‘dystopian’ regime lifestyle.

Call To Action

We are in the early stages of production; the tentative dates for filming are early March to mid April 2024.

We are looking to raise money to finance the production design department as they will be creating their own sets, props and costumes. These elements are very important to our film and would be enhanced by your generous donations.
