SNH Dog Rescue Shelter Deliberately Destroyed by Fire
Donation protected
Hello, I'm Izzy Chill from Sun New Hope Dog Rescue, and I wonder if you can please help us to rebuild our dog rescue barn after it was deliberately set on fire on 9th July.
If you are following us, thank you and I hope you can see how well we are doing and how your extremely kind donations are really helping us.
If you are new to my fundraiser and would like to see the original devastating photos and videos, taken on the 9th July, please do visit our FB group…it’s a public group, and you can see for yourself why I’m asking for your help – thank you.
29th August update
Before the kennel boxes below the mezzamine can be renewed, the area above them needed thoroughly cleaning. Its such a dusty dirty job; roof debris, and, because the pigeons had taken the opportunity to use that area to keep out of the heat, it was covered in pigeon pooh.
Next job is to secure the windows to keep those pesky pigeons out, brush and disinfect the kennel area and then start rebuilding the kennel boxes.
20th August update
We have a temporary water supply, which is terrific and means that Natasa and her hubby can now use a pressure washer, rather than I scrubbing brush to blast off all the soot from the walls and concrete floor.
If anyone has ever very sadly been unfortunate enough to have a housefire, you will completely understand just what a truly unpleasant, dirty and stinky job it is to clean everything and sadly this job is made far worse by the temperatures still being +38 degrees, but they are doing their best and will keep at it, even though they are exhausted after just a few hours.
13th August update.
Finally, we have electricity and our clean up and rebuild can move forward. A new mains consumer unit, all new wiring, lighting and sockets put in. At least now power tools can be used rather than the petrol chainsaw saw!
We have a roof the huge clear up can begin. Pretty much all our kennels look like this, burnt metalwork, beams and broken tiles, melted pipes and each one needs clearing out by hand as we still don't have electricity, hence the petrol chainsaw being used.
4th August update.
25 days we have a roof and mezzanine floor again on our doggie barn, thanks to your kind donations x
I hadn't realised quite how lucky we were. If the wind had shifted, both the barn and our 44 dogs would have been lost. Can't bear to think of that!!
30th July update
We are getting there slowly, thanks to your help x The roof isn't quite finished, so the electricity can't be sorted but we're getting on with the doggy yard, replacing the panels to make it secure.
Just over 2 weeks since our doggy barn was seriously damaged by arsonists and thanks to your kindness, we are making good progress rebuilding it.
The mezzanine is almost finished; the roof is being repaired as quickly as possible. Our beautiful tree had to be felled so that our doggy running yard fencing can be replaced, so our dogs have a secure area to run when they're back there.
Thanks to your support, we've started rebuilding our dog barn just 10 days after it was deliberately set on fire.
What is damaged is being torn out, so it can be replaced, bless not easy work in +40 heat.
It's being done as cheaply and as quickly as possible so we can our 44 dogs back home.
Thank you all for your kindness and generosity, we will be forever grateful to you, and I will keep you updated xx

What happened...
On Wednesday 9th July our wonderful Doggy barn, was severely damaged by a fire that was deliberately set to cause as much harm to 44 of the most beautiful dogs you could ever imagine, calmly living there, happily waiting for amazing families to adopt them.
The fire took hold quickly, taking just 20 minutes to destroy everything!!!
All that could be done was to open the doors and encourage all our dogs to leave the barn and run for their lives. No dog was left behind, and fortunately, no one was injured.
We lost everything, no time to save anything other than what was important to us - our dogs.
Only now have we seen the full extent of the devastation, and it's horrendous.
Almost all the roof, wooden supports, and mezzanine needs replacing, the intense fire melted all the electrical wiring and water pipes, so now we have neither.
Every individual dog kennel needs to be repaired or replaced.
We have nothing left… except for our beautiful dogs. They are alive, and we will always be so grateful for that.
Natasa our wonderful rescuer doesn't have workers, except for one lovely 70-year-old gentleman that helps for a few hours a week with the heavy work, everything else she does alone.
It's so important that our dogs have their home again, our young and elderly dogs, blind, deaf and tri paw dogs that we've saved, cared for and loved, can't go back on the streets of North Macedonia, they just can't and there are so many more that need saving and have a chance of an amazing life.
It will not be easy; as it’s an old cattle shed; 38m x 10m, but it was just perfect, spacious, and cool in the summer, dry and warm in the winter and our doggies are safe and well cared for.
We aren't afraid of hard work, we created their wonderful home 4 years ago, and we can rebuild it with your help.
I have posted videos on our Sun New Hope Dog Rescue FB page. Please feel free to take a look.
Please, if you can help by donating, even the smallest amount it will help us rebuild our doggy barn, and you'll be helping to save many beautiful lives, now and in the future. Thank you so very, very much xx
