ACELO NY sneaker store looted - please help

Dear our friends,

A week before 6/1, ACELO family was getting ready for reopen after being shut down for two months due to COVID-19.   As we were anxiously waiting for the reopen, we were busy restocking inventory, cleaning the store, and setting protocol for healthy environment for our workers and customers.  The quarantine period was harsh and long, but we were filled with joy of anticipation and hope.  However, it didn't take long for our hope to turn to sadness.
As many of you have already seen from the local news headline and Facebook, our business was brutally struck by looting on 6/1.  ACELO sportswear and sneaker store has been serving Bronx for 20 years with friendship and love, and we were not expecting that our business would become prey to looters.

On the night of NYC protest, our entire family was listening to the police radio and watching security camera, praying God would protect our store.  However, God had different plans for us, and we had to watch in panic as hundreds of looters broke the doors, busted into our store, and freely took all the goods.  Crying and scared, we had made countless phone calls to 911 only to find out that there is no help coming. The looting went on for several hours, and our family was all there watching everything in grief, feeling utterly helpless.

This store was everything for the family. That was the American Dream and also family dream. When our family moved to America from Korea, we had nothing but passion. ACELO sportswear was the testimony to our commitment, hard work, and perseverance . Our entire family has devoted ourselves to the business, and we shared the fruit with our friends, employees, and the community.  We always reached out to the underserved families, friends, and especially children.  We have donated lots of goods and money to orphans, underprivileged kids, and overseas orphanages and churches.

We estimate the loss to be around 2 million as the looters had found all storages and didn’t leave anything behind. We found out that our insurance only covers up to 50K, and we do not know how to rebuild the business with a lack of federal and state aid.
When George Floyd was killed in the most brutal, inhumane way, we all were angry and sad. Our team at ACELO was disgusted by inequality and injustice. As much as we are disappointed and surprised by the looting, we also refuse to believe that the looting was the voice of our community and our beloved customers. We strongly believe in standing together and trusting each other. We will get through this together. We will continue to stand with the community and will not blame anyone on this tragedy.
We humbly ask for your help. Please help our family rise from the ashes. Your kindness and generosity will mean more than what you imagine.  Thank you for your love and support.
