Hello, my name is Maria Teresa. I will be 70 years old in November. I retired 3 years ago from being a dental technician. I worked for 45 years making removable prostectics for Dentist in their private practices and students at the university during their process of becoming licensed Dentist. I now find myself in a situation that I never thought I would be in. Im not sure how someone my age can advance to keep up with growing expenses. I only recieve so much a month and it seems that in the last couple of years its become over whelming. My health is faultering. Im in the process of having surgery on both of my feet, one at a time, for bunllions and hammer toes. Each surgery will keep me off of my feet for 4 to 6 weeks. And then my right knee needs to be addressed, which will mean more surgery. I used to be able to make a little extra money doing yard sales with my neighbors but since my failing health its really hard for me to do. Never mind the covid issue and the horrible heat we've all encountered. Texas has had temperatures that have broken records. Which leads to one of my problems. Having to have my room air conditioners on 24/7 in a home I rent that is old and not well insulated have lead me to staying in my living room to basically do everything including sleep. Ive been renting this house for almost 10 years and my rent started at $600.00 a month and the rent has creeped up to $975.00 a month. I only make so much money on a fixed income...supposedly you are suppose to pay only 1/4 of your income to rent or mortgage...my rent has become more than half of my income. This leaves me little money to pay bills and all other expenses. The way things are going up in prices leaves me little to no money to do anything but exist. After working all my life, I cant believe I find my self in this situation. I also discovered that I now some how have bed bugs..I know since I've been reading up on bed bugs how invasive and hard they are to get rid of...I'm not sure what to do about that situation either. If any one can help or suggest what to do about that also, it would be a blessing..please help me if you can.. thank you and be safe...
