Smudge's Journey: Help Smudge walk again
Donation protected
Hello to all my friends, family and compassionate animal lovers.
My name is Misty, and this is my sweet boy Smudge.
He has been a fighter and survivor since birth. Smudge and his 6 siblings were rescued from a drain pipe when they were just 1 week old.
I fostered the puppies, bottle fed, tube fed, and gave them steam showers.
But to my dismay, one by one, they all passed away, except Smudge.
Needless to say, Smudge became a member of the pack.
He was my running buddy.
Every time I grabbed my gym shoes, his tail would go a hundred miles an hour in anticipation.
If you've had the privilege of meeting Smudge, you know he is truly the happiest dog on the planet!
That's how he got his nickname, Wigglebutt.
But on March 28th, 2025, everything changed. When we woke up that morning, Smudge couldn't walk. It seemed to only affect the right side of his body.
I rushed him to the emergency room. They ran tests, did x rays and sent us home with prednisone. After a week, there was still no improvement.
We tried to exhaust all nonsurgical options. He received Chiropractic adjustments and even a change in medicine, but still no improvement.
Smudge has been diagnosed with intervertebral disc disease. IVDD
They are thinking it's a cervical disc, but the only way to find out is doing an MRI.
My rescue friends and I searched far and wide for an affordable MRI.
The cheapest we found was $5000.
The surgery to repair the disc will be an additional $10,000.
Unfortunately I do not have pet insurance for Smudge.
I am asking for any type of support with the costs.
Smudge still has alot of life to live.
His sister and his best friend Lily is 17 years old!
If you know Smudge, you know the light He brings to this world.
Let's give him the chance to continue to be that light!
Thank you to everyone who is willing to contribute.
I am truly grateful for your compassion and kindness!
