Last night (May 7th) my s/o and I were driving back home from dinner when a dog attempted to cross the road infront of us, we were able to stop but a second car next to us did not and hit the poor guy.
The hit sounded really bad and we thought the dog was dead for sure, we desided to stop and get out of the car to see how bad he was and to put him on the side of the road so other cars would not hit him. But, to our surprise he crawled over to the side walk! he stood up but was unable to walk, he looked a lot like our dog so we felt the need to help him. I picked him up and we took him home. we really wanted to help him and because he look in so much pain so we decided to call the Houston SPCA emergancy hotline to see if they could help him. They offered to help but, after some research we found out they put down all pitbulls with out a second thought. When the animal ambulance got there I ask the responder if what we read was true and she said that it was and that he would be euthanize, seeing that the dog was a pitbull and I myself own a pit, we refused to give him over and she understood.
This morning we took him to the local animal hospital and got him checked out. The Vet told us that his shoulder was broken and it would require surgey in order to heal. He said that the operation could not be performed at that hospital because it was to complex and would require plates to be placed. A professional Surgeon would have to do the operation and could cost around $1600-2k.
unfortunately we can not afford that. we paid for some shots to help with pain and inflamation for next 36 hours. We hope to raise this money to nurse him back to health and find him a good loving home. Any donation will be greatly appreciated.Hopfully we can be able to get him walking again!
Thank you all for your suport.
