Just before Christmas, my father, Smokey Hand was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma, an aggressive form of mouth/throat cancer. He has been referred to the cancer center in Boston for treatment. Because it is an aggressive form of cancer my dad's surgery will be at the end of this month. My dad will need months of treatment and rehabilitation and most likely many trips to Boston. Angel flight was generous to provide two free flights to Boston, he has used one of those already. Due to my dad's health and injuries he suffered when he broke his neck eight years ago it makes it very difficult and painful for him to travel long distances. We are planning to use any money raised to put towards more flights as well as expenses during his recovery. Cancer is a burden, no matter what form and it has affected our family greatly.
