Hi, my name is Smoke. Boy, I sure do have an incredible story to share with you all! And I’m really hoping that maybe some of you could help my mom, so she can continue to help me. I figured sharing my story was the best way I could help her. Here we go!
I can’t remember where I was born, but my earliest memories are of when I was rescued off the side of the freeway and brought to the Santa Paula Animal Rescue Center (SPARC) in Santa Paula, California. They graciously took me in and once they realized I had an unknown neurological disorder, the search for my perfect family was on! Through social media (and my cute photos, of course) they were able to find Krista, who I now call my mom! She flew all the way from Pennsylvania to pick me up in California, because she knew she could help me get better and she could help me learn how to be a REAL dog!!!
I felt bad because I kept hurting myself, and no one knew why. We’re still not entirely sure why I attack myself sometimes, but with Krista’s help along with my new brothers Axle and Diesel, I finally learned how to live life without hurting myself and enjoying life the way dogs were meant to! She had to spend a lot of money to get help from all kinds of doctors to develop a treatment plan that worked for ME. I was getting better and better every day, until I wasn’t.
I scared my mommy when she got home from a trip because I was covered in puncture wounds and blood and since I’m a dog, I couldn’t tell them what happened. Mom rushed me to the hospital (AGAIN) and even though I was hanging on by a toe, she held my paw the whole way through. I was out of it for a few days, but my mom never gave up on me. Not even close! She has spent every penny she has to save my life. I fought and fought and fought, and I never gave up either! I fought for my life just like my mom always has for me.
I know this last year has been incredibly difficult for lots of people, I hear my mom talk about it sometimes. I saw her cry, I saw her laugh and I saw her live her life to the fullest. That’s all she’s ever wanted for me, too. And my brothers. I love my family and I want to spend as much time with them as I can. I need to help my mom raise money to pay for my medical bills. If you are able to make a donation, I know she would be so grateful but even more-so I would be grateful myself!!! I’ve spent over 14 days in the hospital, and I’m finally back home. But I have to go to the doctors every other day to change my bandages. And the bills just keep adding up and I can’t bear to see my mom stressed out about that when she’s already worried about so many other things - like spending quality time with me while my wounds heal. It’s really painful, so it’s nice to have my mom closeby so I don’t feel all alone. I’m really scared…
Please help my mom! If you can’t contribute, PLEASE share this link so that maybe someone you know can consider making a contribution. And thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!
Love, Smoke.
